Indiana State Police say troopers remained busy across the state in May, conducting nearly 35,000 traffic stops and making thousands of arrests.
Enforcement Efforts
According to the agency’s monthly enforcement statistics, troopers issued more than 16,000 citations for various traffic violations. State police also reported 361 arrests for impaired driving and more than 2,700 criminal arrests overall during the month.
Troopers investigated more than 1,500 crashes statewide, including eight fatal collisions, according to the report. Indiana State Police say traffic enforcement efforts are focused on reducing dangerous driving behaviors such as speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and reckless operation.
