A 36-year-old man who is an illegal immigrant pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge at an arraignment hearing in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. The guilty plea was part of a plea agreement reached between the defendant, Ismael Gonzalez-Paz, and the state.
The investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine in Sheridan County led to Gonzalez-Paz’s arrest for conspiring to deliver methamphetamine to persons known and unknown in the Sheridan area. The criminal conduct occurred between June and December of 2025.
The state is recommending one and a half to three years in prison, suspended in favor of time served since the defendant’s arrest to the date of sentencing and one day of unsupervised probation. Sheridan County Attorney Diana Bennett said the plea deal was made because there is an ice hold on Gonzalez-Paz and he will face deportation once he is sentenced.
