The Attorney General’s office shared guidelines on how to avoid getting scammed, including never giving out personal information, not clicking on unknown links, and being cautious of requests to pay with cryptocurrency, gift cards, or large amounts of cash.
In a recent case, the Consumer Protection Division worked with a victim and UPS to stop a transaction, saving the victim $14,000. Attorney General Labrador expressed gratitude for the quick action of his investigators, stating that it’s rare to stop a crime in progress, especially of this magnitude.
