Arkansas State University marked a major milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of its new College of Veterinary Medicine in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The ceremony was held at the new 56,000-square-foot facility on the A-State campus.

The opening comes after years of planning and development as A-State prepares to welcome the college’s inaugural class. Students began orientation on August 6, with classes scheduled to begin on August 12.
According to Dean Dr. Heidi Banse, the college will begin with 19 faculty members delivering its first-year curriculum. A-State plans to hire another 15 faculty members during the next 12 months. The program is intended to help address veterinary workforce needs in Arkansas and the surrounding region.
