Inflation and Price Increases
Despite some exceptions, prices have risen in many areas, including groceries, which have increased by 3.4% since January 2025. While some items like eggs, bacon, and bread have decreased in price, others like coffee, ground beef, and chicken breast have risen.
Gasoline prices have also increased significantly, with a 34% rise since Trump took office. The Iran war has contributed to the surge in energy prices, with fuel oil, natural gas, and electricity also increasing.
According to Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president of the American Action Forum, Trump’s statement is inaccurate and ignores the affordability issues faced by many Americans.
