Honoring the 13 U.S. Service Members Lost in Operation Epic Fury

In the wake of the ongoing conflict with Iran, known as Operation Epic Fury, communities across the United States are mourning the loss of 13 dedicated service members. Among them was Maj. John ‘Alex’ Klinner, whose love for the outdoors and devotion to his family and the Air Force left a lasting impact on those who knew him. Klinner, a major in the Air Force for eight years, died in a tragic crash of a KC-135 Stratotanker in western Iraq, alongside five other crew members.

Remembering the Fallen

Maj. Klinner, a beloved husband and father, was remembered by his family for his passion for flying and his commitment to his community. His father, John Klinner, shared fond memories of camping trips and the joy his son found in being a devoted dad to his young children. The Klinner family, along with others who have lost loved ones, are left with a void that is immeasurable.

Capt. Ariana G. Savino, another victim of the crash, was a passionate aviator and mentor to many. Her family is honoring her legacy by establishing an aviation scholarship for Latino youth and women, reflecting her dedication to inspiring the next generation.

Tech. Sgt. Tyler H. Simmons, remembered for his illuminating personality and love for his country, had expressed concerns about returning home just days before the crash. His father, Charles Mylo Simmons, recalls their final conversations with a heavy heart but takes solace in knowing his son loved his work and his country.

Tech. Sgt. Ashley B. Pruitt, described by her husband as ‘radiant,’ leaves behind a family who cherished her deeply. Her dedication to her role as a boom operator and her love for her family were unparalleled.

Capt. Seth R. Koval, who fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot, was a seasoned combat pilot responsible for training others. His commitment to service and his community is remembered fondly by those who knew him.

A Nation Mourns

These stories of sacrifice and dedication remind us of the human cost of conflict. As families and communities continue to grieve, they also honor the vibrant lives and legacies of these service members. Their sacrifices are a poignant reminder of the bravery and commitment of those who serve our nation.
