Heath Church Beautifies Terry Park

On Saturday, June 20, approximately 50 volunteers from the Heath congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered at Terry Park to complete a community cleanup and beautification project in partnership with the City of Heath.

Community Service

Volunteers spent the morning painting the park restrooms, re-staining trash receptacles, and picking up litter throughout the park, helping improve one of Heath’s popular community gathering spaces.

The project grew out of a meeting at Terry Park between the congregation’s service coordinator and Heath City Manager Steven Alexander. During the meeting, they discussed the congregation’s commitment to serving the local community through regular volunteer efforts and identified Terry Park as a location where volunteers could make an immediate impact.

“As disciples of Jesus Christ, service is one of the most tangible ways we demonstrate our love for God and those around us,” said volunteer Doug Shaw. “Service helps me become more like the Savior because it shifts my focus from myself to the needs of others. Whether the task is large or small, I know that every act of kindness is an opportunity to represent Jesus Christ and to make a positive difference in someone’s life.”

Members of the Heath congregation look forward to continuing their partnership with the City of Heath by participating in future projects that strengthen neighborhoods, improve public spaces, and bless the lives of community members.
