Georgetown is constructing a 1-million-gallon-per-day wastewater package plant to help manage peak wastewater flows and improve treated effluent quality at the Pecan Branch Wastewater Treatment Plant, according to Communications Manager Keith Hutchinson.
Project Details
The city owns the property at 3500 FM 971 and is rezoning the parcel of land from park use to public facility use to move forward with the project, which is set to be complete by November. As part of the rezoning, the city will create a municipal service agreement for the package plant to bring it into city limits.
There are several ongoing water infrastructure projects in the city to provide additional capacity for growth, Hutchinson said. The Three Forks Water Reclamation Facility, which will be built across FM 971 from the Pecan Branch plant, is part of Georgetown’s $1.96 billion five-year water and wastewater capital improvement plan.
