Residents of Northern Nevada will have a rare opportunity this October to receive free legal advice from licensed attorneys. As part of the American Bar Association’s Celebrate Pro Bono 2026 initiative, Nevada lawyers are hosting a series of Ask‑A‑Lawyer sessions and law fairs throughout the month.
Where and When
Events are scheduled in Reno, Carson City and Pahrump, with additional sessions planned for the week of Oct. 26‑31. Participants can also access help by phone or virtually, ensuring that even those in remote areas can obtain counsel.
What Services Are Offered
The clinics focus on civil legal needs. Attendees may bring questions about powers of attorney, wills and estate planning, veterans’ issues, divorce, guardianship, foreclosure, family law, child support or custody, protective orders, landlord‑tenant disputes, small claims, collections, immigration, bankruptcy and other related topics.
Why It Matters
“Thousands of Nevadans try to navigate the court system every year without a lawyer,” said Brad Lewis, Director of the Access to Justice Commission. “During Celebrate Pro Bono 2026, we work to help those with limited means get free help from a Nevada lawyer. For some, this completely changes the outcome of their issue.”
The Nevada Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission has compiled a statewide list of sessions, which also includes events in Las Vegas. The effort is supported by legal‑aid providers, pro‑bono attorneys and a range of community partners.

Sponsors include the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, Nevada Legal Services, Northern Nevada Legal Aid, Southern Nevada Senior Law Program, Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans and the Washoe County Law Library’s Lawyer in the Library program. Many of these programs receive funding from Nevada financial institutions participating in the Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program, which raises money to assist low‑income Nevadans with civil legal needs.
How to Participate
