A 35-year-old man who managed to evade law enforcement across multiple Florida counties for years is finally in custody. Members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Auto Theft Unit located and arrested Everaldo Alvarez Borqueno on June 18, 2026.
Background
Alvarez Borqueno was wanted on outstanding warrants from several jurisdictions, including the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Corrections. According to officials, the arrest brings a conclusion to multiple long-term investigations and years of coordinated law enforcement efforts to capture him.
Authorities stated that Alvarez Borqueno has a well-documented history of running from police. During previous attempted apprehensions, he fled at high speeds through public roads and rammed patrol vehicles, demonstrating what officials described as a complete disregard for the safety of both deputies and the public.
Detectives noted that he had previously escaped from Hernando County deputies during a past arrest attempt. Law enforcement released video footage detailing his history of flight.
Charges
Alvarez Borqueno is currently facing a lengthy list of felony charges built up over several years. The charges include grand theft auto, burglary, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, criminal mischief, vehicle theft-related offenses, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and multiple violations of probation.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister released a statement regarding the multi-year effort to locate the suspect. “Time and again, this suspect chose to put the public at risk rather than face the consequences of his actions,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Those who believe they can evade justice by running only delay the inevitable. We will find you. Whether it takes days, months, or years, we will continue to pursue those who threaten the safety of our community and bring them to justice.”
