Five-Star Caleb Holt Joins Arizona; Lloyd Highlights Program’s Community Impact

Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd has been emphasizing that his role extends beyond winning games, focusing on building a program that energizes the community. This week the Wildcats added a high-profile piece to that vision: five-star guard Caleb Holt officially signed with Arizona for the 2026-27 season, with the program announcing his commitment Monday afternoon.

Holt, expected to step into the starting lineup vacated by Brayden Burries, chose Arizona over finalists that included Alabama, Kentucky, Houston and Providence. The guard’s résumé includes recent appearances in the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Hoop Summit, and he spent time last summer playing for Lloyd on the USA Basketball team that captured the FIBA U19 World Cup in Switzerland.

Holt and freshman Koa Peat have been teammates on USA squads, winning gold at both the U17 and U19 levels. During the seven-game U19 tournament Holt averaged about 10 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting efficiently — better than 60% overall and over 50% from three-point range — numbers that helped push him into the top national recruiting tiers.

Originally from Loganville, Ga., and currently at Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Holt visited several campuses during his recruitment, including stops at Alabama, Kentucky, Auburn and Providence, and he attended Arizona’s Red-Blue Showcase in October. He now joins Goodyear Millennium forward Cameron Holmes in Arizona’s 2026 recruiting class, along with incoming transfers guards Derek Dixon (North Carolina) and JJ Mandaquit (Washington).

Looking ahead to 2026-27, Arizona currently projects around eight scholarship players on the roster, though the status of Brayden Burries and Koa Peat remains uncertain. Burries is widely viewed as a likely lottery pick who appears set to enter the NBA Draft, while Peat is also projected as a potential first-round selection, leaving some roster spots to be finalized as draft decisions and other moves play out.
