FedEx Cup Finale Set for Atlanta; European Tour Kicks Off British Masters

The PGA Tour’s championship weekend is fast approaching. The Tour Championship will be held at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, from Thursday through Sunday. The course measures 7,440 yards with a par of 70, and the event carries a $40 million purse, including a $10 million winner’s share. Television coverage will be split between the Golf Channel and CBS, with live windows each day.

Key Players and Storylines

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler entered the tournament as the FedEx Cup leader after clinching the season race with a $23 million bonus at the BMW Championship. Scheffler and three‑time FedEx Cup champion Rory McIlroy both have a chance to overtake Tiger Woods in career PGA Tour earnings during the final week.

Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood will be looking to repeat his success, while PGA Tour rookies Alex Fitzpatrick and Kristoffer Reitan join a field that also includes Min Woo Lee, Ryan Gerard, Alex Smalley and British Open champion Ryan Fox. No player has won the FedEx Cup in consecutive years since the competition began in 2007.

Other PGA Tour Events

Following the Tour Championship, the PGA Tour will move to the Biltmore Championship in Asheville, North Carolina, scheduled for September 17‑20.

Women’s LPGA Tour: FM Championship

In the women’s game, the FM Championship will take place at TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts. The tournament offers a $4.4 million purse with a $660,000 winner’s share. Defending champion Miranda Wang and Race to CME Globe leader Nelly Korda will lead a field that includes the top‑10 women’s world rankings.

The event serves as the final stop before the Solheim Cup, featuring a strong international lineup. Notable participants include Canadian amateurs Anna Huang and Aphrodite Deng, as well as U.S. captain’s pick Lindy Duncan.

European Tour: British Masters

Across the Atlantic, the British Masters will be contested at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, England. The tournament offers $3.5 million in prize money, with a $583,333 winner’s share. Former Open champion Alex Noren is the defending champion, though he will not return after missing the Tour Championship.

Patrick Reed leads the Race to Dubai and will look to extend his lead over Rory McIlroy after a tied‑30th finish at the Nexo Championship. The event is hosted by Nick Faldo and features former Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, marking his first individual European Tour start of the year.

Champions Tour: The Ally Challenge

On the PGA Tour Champions, the Ally Challenge will be held at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The $2.2 million purse includes a $330,000 winner’s share. Stewart Cink, the defending champion and Charles Schwab Cup leader, will attempt a third straight victory.

Former PGA Tour star Michael Block received a sponsor exemption, and Lt. Col. Dan Rooney was also granted a spot, highlighting the tournament’s support for military families through the Folds of Honor scholarship program.
