FC Dallas, a Frisco-based soccer club, has been recognized as a leading talent factory in Major League Soccer. The club has produced a quartet of players, including Weston McKennie, Chris Richards, Ricardo Pepi, and Alejandro Zendejas, who represented the US national team in the World Cup.
Developing Domestic Talent
FC Dallas president Dan Hunt emphasized the club’s commitment to developing domestic talent, stating, “We’re a big believer in domestic talent… We want to try to help not only FC Dallas win, but the national teams win.”
The club’s investment in youth football has paid off, with a 10% growth in their youth teams in 2025 and an expected 7% increase this year. The hosting of the World Cup has also driven interest in the sport, with FC Dallas experiencing a surge in participation.
A Bright Future
Hunt is confident that the system that produced McKennie and company has received a further boost from hosting the World Cup and can continue to develop players at all levels. “You hope this inspires the American Messi,” he said. “You hope this inspires a kid that might not have picked soccer, who’s this special athlete and has a special brain for the game to come play and hopefully play here at FC Dallas or at MLS teams.”
