James Duckett, a former Mascotte police officer, has had his stay of execution lifted. Duckett was convicted of raping and killing 11-year-old Teresa McAbee in 1987.
Background
Duckett has been on death row since his conviction. The stay of execution was issued by the Supreme Court in March, pending new DNA testing results on evidence. However, the results of those tests were inconclusive.
A new date for Duckett’s execution has not been announced.
