A new outdoor sculpture garden has debuted in Englewood, bringing a community arts space to former vacant lots in the neighborhood. The Englewood Arts Collective held a soft opening for the Arts Village Sculpture Park, featuring two exhibits, a collaborative mural, and live music.

The park will host festivities during the Englewood Music Festival on September 12 and will feature a rotating gallery of local artwork. Artists and neighbors alike got the chance to peruse the park’s offerings and learn about the history of the project.
Janell Nelson, a co-founder of the Arts Collective, said the goal is to promote the arts in the neighborhood and provide a positive space for the community. The collective plans to move different public art collections through the space and host “art markets” in the park starting next year.
The current exhibitions at the sculpture park include a collection of “rising star” sculptures and “The Stories of Us” collection, which features artwork challenging preconceived narratives about American identity.
