The Dallas Zoo has announced the birth of a new baby elephant, weighing 230 lbs. The baby elephant was born on Sunday, July 26, at 12:30 p.m. and started nursing within its first hour of life.
New Addition to the Elephant Family
The newborn is the younger brother of another elephant at the zoo, Okubili, which means two or duplicate. Okubili was born in 2023. Their mother is Mlilo, who was rescued in Swaziland before giving birth to her first calf in 2016.
The zoo will soon announce when the baby elephant will make its habitat debut.
