The Miami Hurricanes are ready to start their journey to the National Championship, with the team’s 6th title in sight. The 2026 season begins with training camp on Tuesday, following a media day where players emphasized the need to prove themselves once again.
Team Preparation
Receiver Malachi Toney noted that the team is focused on the present, with the 2025 season behind them. “I know coach Cristobal helps us with that. He tells us all the time that that was the 2025 team and this is the 2026 team, and there is nothing we did last year that can help us this year,” Toney said.
The team has a strong lineup, including Maxwell Award watch list honorees Malachi Toney and running back Mark Fletcher Jr. Transferring from Duke, quarterback Darian Mensah is already receiving positive reviews from teammates. “It feels like home. The culture here is built on family, and it feels like a family here,” Mensah said.
The Hurricanes have a significant amount of local South Florida talent, including Vero Beach product Vandrevious Jacobs, who transferred from South Carolina, and West Boca freshman running back Javian Mallory. “Now that I’m here and into the program, learning about the culture and being with guys 24/7, it’s a blessing, and I’m excited for the season,” Mallory said.
Upcoming Season
The Hurricanes will open their season on the West Coast, facing Stanford on September 4th.
