Ten Americans were saved from a seaplane crash caught on camera in the Bahamas on Saturday. According to a preliminary investigation by the Bahamas police, the aircraft ran into sea traffic while attempting to take off, and the pilot flew north in search of a safer take-off route.

The seaplane began pulling left while taxiing on the water despite attempts to correct its course, eventually slamming into a dock near a resort in North Bimini, police said. Video footage captures nearby boaters immediately jumping in to help.

The plane’s nose was nearly submerged as occupants safely disembarked from the aircraft and climbed into a rescue boat. Additional photos by boat dealer MarineMax Jupiter shows the plane half-sunken in the water with its wing sticking out.

Eight passengers and two crew members were aboard the seaplane. Nobody was injured. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority and Bahamian authorities are investigating the incident to determine what happened and why.

Tropic Ocean Airways operated the seaplane, a Cessna 208B. The company said in a statement that the aircraft was “involved in a mishap while taxiing before departure” and that they are “cooperating fully with the applicable authorities.” The U.S. State Department said it has contacted local authorities and is closely monitoring any developments.
