Elizabeth Caldwell is the new investigative reporter for Jacksonville Today. She has a background in radio and a passion for holding power to account. Caldwell’s journey to investigative reporting began when she listened to a podcast about a man trying to solve a murder, which sparked her interest in storytelling.
Early Life and Career
Caldwell’s first ambition was to be a photographer for National Geographic, but she eventually dropped the idea due to the amount of equipment required. She then tried her hand at various jobs, including being a deckhand, waitress, and delivery driver. Caldwell also taught English in a public school, but she didn’t feel she was doing justice to her students.
After trying different careers, Caldwell went back to school to earn a credential in radio. Her first public media job was in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she worked with other journalists who taught her the importance of holding power to account. Caldwell developed a taste for investigative reporting and eventually had the privilege of watching a woman who had been sentenced to life without parole leave prison due to her work.
Caldwell is now honored to be an investigative reporter for Jacksonville Today and is looking forward to working with the community. If you have a tip, you can email her at [email protected].
