Two elephant sculptures, Tara and Peanut, have been added to the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s campus. The life-sized sculptures of an elephant matriarch and calf were created by The Real Elephant Collective, a group of 200 Indigenous artisans from India’s Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
The sculptures are crafted entirely from lantana camera, one of the world’s most invasive plant species, helping restore wildlife habitat while transforming an environmental challenge into art. The sculptures are located outside MuseumLab on the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s campus.
