Ecuadorian fishermen have come forward with claims of being attacked by a mysterious blue ship, which they describe as a ‘ghost ship’, using bomb-dropping drones. The attacks, which occurred in March, left several fishermen injured and their boats damaged.
Attack Details
According to the fishermen, the attacks happened when they were in the Pacific, near the Galápagos Islands. They reported seeing a blue ship and drones following them before the attacks occurred. The drones, which were described as small with rotors in all four corners and a tube hanging from the center, dropped explosives or crashed into the boats.
The fishermen said they were detained and interrogated by armed men on the blue ship, who were described as White, tall, and speaking English. The men were wearing brown camouflaged uniforms and some had a patch of the US flag on their arms.
Investigation and Response
The US Defense Department has denied any involvement in the attacks, and the CIA has not commented on the matter. The Ecuadorian Navy has also been contacted for information, but no response has been received yet.
The fishermen were eventually transferred to a Salvadoran Coast Guard ship and taken to El Salvador, where they received medical treatment and were interviewed by authorities. They have since been returned to their home country.
The incident has raised questions about the identity of the attackers and their motives. The fishermen’s lawyer, Jorge Chiriboga Dávalos, plans to file a lawsuit in the US against those responsible, once they are identified.
