Jason Williams, a machine shop owner from Clover, South Carolina, recently landed the one-of-a-kind Cooper Flagg NBA debut patch card, which has drawn several multimillion-dollar offers.
A Life-Changing Moment
Williams, a father of five, entered a break of Topps Chrome Update Basketball and paid $515 for the Dallas Mavericks. He was watching the livestream on his phone when the card was revealed, and he immediately knew the significance of the moment.
Williams has collected sports cards on and off since he was 12 and discovered online breaks about six years ago. He said the adrenaline was so intense that he didn’t sleep that night and instead stayed up talking with others in the online chat before going to work at 5 a.m.
The Dallas Mavericks have offered lower-level season tickets for 32 years and a package of other perks in exchange for the card. Williams is in no rush to make a deal, saying he’s looking forward to the experiences and memories he’ll create with his family.
