The Dr. Wade Newman Award for Entrepreneurs announces that applications are now open for its 2026 scholarship program, inviting undergraduate students across the United States to showcase entrepreneurial ideas that have the potential to create meaningful change within their communities and industries.
About the Award
Established in honor of Dr. Wade Newman, the award recognizes students who demonstrate creativity, initiative, and a commitment to solving real-world challenges through innovation. The Dr. Wade Newman Award for Entrepreneurs is designed to encourage the next generation of business leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs by supporting undergraduate students who possess a strong entrepreneurial mindset.
The scholarship is open to current undergraduate students enrolled at accredited colleges and universities throughout the United States. Applicants must demonstrate a clear interest in entrepreneurship, business development, or innovation and submit an original essay between 750 and 1,000 words responding to the prompt: “Describe an entrepreneurial idea or venture you are passionate about. Explain how this idea can make a positive difference in your community or industry, and discuss the challenges you may face and how you plan to overcome them.”
Application and Selection
The essay serves as the primary evaluation component, providing applicants with an opportunity to present their vision, problem-solving abilities, leadership potential, and commitment to creating positive change through entrepreneurship. The Dr. Wade Newman Award for Entrepreneurs will provide a one-time award of $1,000 to one selected recipient. Applications must be submitted by July 15, 2026, and the scholarship recipient will be announced on August 15, 2026.
