Dolly Parton, the Queen of Country, is bringing her life story to Broadway with a new musical titled DOLLY: A True Original Musical. The show will debut with preview performances on December 7, 2026, at New York’s St. James Theatre, with the official opening set for January 19, 2027, which is Parton’s 81st birthday.
About the Musical
The musical, directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, will feature iconic Parton songs such as ‘Jolene,’ ‘I Will Always Love You,’ ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ and ‘9 to 5,’ alongside original songs written for the production. Parton said in a video announcement, ‘This really is a dream come true.’ The show chronicles Parton’s life through her own words, featuring her music as a key part of the storytelling.
In addition to her Broadway musical, Parton has also announced the opening of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop in Cornersville, Tennessee, about 60 miles south of Nashville. The new travel center is designed to rival Buc-ee’s, a popular roadside destination known for its fuel, food, snacks, and shopping.
