Denton ISD high school students have shown improvement in their STAAR scores for 2026, with passing rates increasing in certain subjects. The students were tested on subjects such as Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II, and U.S. History.
Improvement in Scores
The passing rate for Biology and English II both increased by one percentage point between the school years. However, the passing rate for U.S. History decreased by one percentage point from 93% in 2025 to 92% in 2026.
According to the Texas Education Agency’s Accountability Manual, STAAR scores make up 40% of the student achievement metric in calculating a high school’s accountability score. For elementary and middle schools, STAAR scores make up 100% of the student achievement metric.
Parents can view their child’s individual score at texasassessment.gov using a unique access code distributed by their child’s school.
