The Seabreeze Boulevard beach access ramp in Daytona Beach was closed to cars and pedestrians on Friday night due to structural concerns with a vacant building adjacent to the ramp. The city of Daytona Beach announced the closure after city and county officials met onsite with the building’s owner, Johnathan Eid.

Public Safety Concerns

City officials stated that the need to protect beachgoers and construction workers took precedence over maintaining public access to the beach. The existing building permit for repairs was closed, and a new contractor, G.C. Contractor Services, was retained to complete the work.

Clayton Jackson with Volusia County said the closure was made in the interest of public safety. Beachgoers are advised to use alternative access points, including the Zelda Boulevard and International Speedway Boulevard ramps, as well as off-beach parking options in the area.
