A young raccoon in Dallas had a mayonnaise jar stuck on her head for multiple days before being rescued by Dallas Animal Services. The raccoon, named Mayonesa, was finally captured by DAS Officers Miller and Southerland on Monday morning.
According to DAS officials, Mayonesa was lightly sedated, given fluids and medications, and finally freed from the jar. She was found to be in remarkably good condition and full of energy, despite dehydration from several days without food and water.
Texas Metro Wildlife will provide Mayonesa with a few days of care before she is released back into the wild. Dallas Animal Services reminded residents to dispose of jars, cans, and other containers responsibly, as everyday household items can become dangerous when they end up in the environment.
