The crypto industry has spent $189 million on this year’s elections, according to a June report by watchdog group Public Citizen. Much of that has been directed through Fairshake, a major super political action committee created to support pro-crypto candidates.
Crypto-Friendly Candidates
Fairshake has spent millions supporting candidates such as Representative Barry Moore, an Alabama Republican running for Senate, and Representative Andy Barr, a Republican running for Senate in Kentucky. Both Moore and Barr have voted to advance crypto-friendly measures, including the Genius Act and the Clarity Act.
Other candidates supported by Fairshake include Christian Menefee, a Democrat from Texas, and Jasmine Clark, a Democratic state representative in Georgia. Clark has voted to advance a bill providing a state regulatory and licensing framework for stablecoins in Georgia.
The crypto industry is pushing Congress to pass the Clarity Act, which would put the industry on a stronger legal footing and encourage broader crypto adoption. The bill has a narrow window to become law before the August recess.
