Conway, SC – The Conway Chamber of Commerce is rolling out the second annual Graveyard Grand Prix Coffin Races, a Halloween‑themed community celebration set for Saturday, October 17, beginning at 10 a.m. in historic downtown Conway. Presented by Radial, the event invites local teams to design and power human‑driven “coffins” through a series of head‑to‑head heats.
How the races work
Each team must field five participants: one rider, called “The Ghost,” and four pushers. All members must be at least 16 years old. Safety is a top priority—helmets are required for riders and strongly encouraged for pushers, and every coffin undergoes a pre‑race inspection. Coffins must have four wheels, a secure seat for The Ghost, and be controllable throughout the course.
Competitive and Spirit divisions
The event features two divisions. The Competitive Racing Division hosts a 16‑team double‑elimination tournament, with teams battling for the championship title. The Spirit Division emphasizes creativity, costumes, and crowd interaction; spirit teams receive showcase runs and compete for special awards.
Registration and participation
