Green Bay dairy producers and farm staff will gather on November 18‑19 at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College for the 2026 Dairy Wellbeing Workshop, a two‑day program presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDP). The event is designed to help local dairy teams recognize animal pain early, understand how on‑farm practices affect cull‑cow carcass value, and apply proven welfare‑focused management techniques.
Workshop schedule and logistics
Both sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. each day, with simultaneous Spanish translation available. Pre‑registration is required; interested participants can sign up at www.pdpw.org or call 800‑947‑7379.
What attendees will learn
The agenda includes a plant‑tour segment where participants follow a cull cow’s journey from the processing‑plant harvest floor to the cooler. Seeing the real‑world impact of on‑farm decisions helps producers understand why some cows are discounted or condemned and how to improve carcass value.
Dr. Simon Peek, BVSc, PhD, DACVIM, MRCVS, clinical professor of large‑animal internal medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, will lead a session on recovery strategies for non‑ambulatory animals. His presentation offers practical steps to support animal welfare and give staff confidence when handling injured cows.
Dr. Jennifer Walker, DVM, PhD, co‑founder and chief animal welfare officer with Kinder Ground, will cover pain‑identification techniques related to calving, lameness and injuries. She will dive into preventive management, proper injection‑site selection and other key protocols that can reduce suffering and improve herd health.
Continuing education credits
The workshop is accredited for up to 5.75 Dairy AdvanCE (DACE) continuing‑education credits and up to 5.0 ARPAS credits, giving participants a valuable professional‑development opportunity.
