Connecticut Sun Triumphs Over Los Angeles Sparks, Snapping Losing Streak

The Connecticut Sun, led by Aneesah Morrow’s stellar performance, secured a narrow 84-81 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut. Morrow, who is leading the WNBA with seven double-doubles this season, added another to her record with 17 points and 14 rebounds. This win marks the end of a challenging three-game losing streak for the Sun.

Connecticut’s Kennedy Burke contributed significantly with 14 points, while Leila Lacan and Diamond Miller each added 12 points. The Sun’s defense was also on point, tying their season high with 11 steals. The team now stands at 2-8 for the season.

On the other side, the Sparks, now 4-4, were led by Ariel Atkins and Rae Burrell, each scoring 16 points. Erica Wheeler and Dearica Hamby also made notable contributions with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Despite a strong start in the fourth quarter, the Sparks struggled to maintain their momentum, allowing the Sun to capitalize on their defensive efforts.

The game also saw the return of Connecticut’s Brittney Griner, who had been absent due to a rib injury. Unfortunately, Griner had to leave the game after an apparent eye injury, finishing with nine points.

Looking ahead, the Sparks will host Las Vegas on Tuesday, while the Sun will face Atlanta, hoping to build on their recent victory.
