El Paso Locomotive FC Suffers 4-1 Defeat to Lexington SC at Home

El Paso Locomotive FC endured a tough evening at Southwest University Park, falling 4-1 to Lexington SC in front of a home crowd of 5,668 fans. The match, played under sunny skies with temperatures at 87 degrees, saw Locomotive’s record shift to 4-4-2 in the regular season.

The game took a difficult turn early on when an own goal put Lexington SC ahead. A strong save by Locomotive’s goalkeeper, Sebastian Mora Mora, led to an unfortunate deflection off teammate Álvaro Quezada, resulting in the first goal for Lexington.

Locomotive’s efforts to regain control were further hampered in the 29th minute when Diego Abitia received a straight red card, reducing the team to ten men. Lexington capitalized on this advantage, with Marcus Epps scoring just before halftime to double their lead.

The second half mirrored the first in challenges for El Paso. A second red card for Robert Coronado left Locomotive with only nine players on the field. Shortly after, Phillip Goodrum extended Lexington’s lead to 3-0 with a well-placed shot.

Tarik Scott sealed the victory for Lexington with a fourth goal shortly after being substituted onto the field. Despite the setbacks, Locomotive managed to score a consolation goal when Rubio Rubín converted a penalty kick, sending the Lexington goalkeeper the wrong way.

Looking ahead, El Paso Locomotive FC will travel to face Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on June 6, with the match set to kick off at 7:00 p.m.
