Los Angeles County authorities are expected to provide an update on the homicide investigations related to two people who were shot and killed during a Fourth of July celebration in Compton.
Victims Identified
Meah Bordenave-Jenkins, a 19-year-old nursing student, and Eric Washington, a community activist, were killed in the shooting. Bordenave-Jenkins died at the scene, while Washington died at a hospital.
The shooting occurred at around 11:20 p.m. on West Laurel Street near Wilmington Avenue. A total of five people were shot, including two men and three women.
Community members have condemned the deadly shooting, remembering Bordenave-Jenkins as a promising young woman and Washington as someone dedicated to public service.
