Colts special teams coordinator Brian Mason was taken out on the final play of scrimmage in the team’s 13-13 tie with the New England Patriots on Thursday night at Gillette Stadium.
Mason, 39, unsuccessfully tried to avoid the Patriots and Colts players who were barreling toward the sideline. He appeared to get hit down low and was then writhing on the ground in pain.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen said postgame, ‘He got rolled up right on the sideline that last play. So we’ll see. He’s getting evaluated for his knee right now.’
