A routine health inspection found several food safety violations at an eastside chicken restaurant in Colorado Springs, while several other local eateries earned top marks for cleanliness —including one downtown deli that received a perfect score.
Health Inspection Results
The chicken restaurant, BB.Q Chicken, was found to have potential cross-contamination issues and cream that remained at an unsafe holding temperature. However, the restaurant later passed its follow-up inspection.
In contrast, East Coast Deli on Tejon Street received a perfect health inspection score. The deli serves Boar’s Head products and makes much of its menu from scratch, including freshly baked bagels and hand-sliced pastrami.
Manager Nicole Repass credited the restaurant’s success to consistent training, strong leadership, and employees who stay on top of daily cleaning tasks. The deli’s daily cleaning checklist helped the restaurant acquire its perfect score, even with two new employees working during the latest inspection.
