Colorado Springs restaurants are stepping up their game when it comes to health inspections. A recent roundup of local eateries shows that some have made significant improvements after initial concerns.
Improvements at Basil & Barley
Basil & Barley, a local pizza shop, was reinspected after initially receiving 10 health code violations. The restaurant’s owner reported that a cooler was not functioning properly, which affected 15 different items. However, after repairs and changes to food handling practices, the restaurant earned only one violation on its re-inspection.
Another local restaurant, Wing Force, is soaring above the competition with its high health inspection scores. Co-owner Kevin Than credits the restaurant’s strong start to its general manager, who has over 20 years of kitchen experience. Wing Force makes its food from scratch in-house, including boneless tenders and fries.
Perfect Score for Chipotle in Fountain
The Chipotle in Fountain earned a perfect score during its routine health inspection. Other local restaurants, including Wing Force, also received high scores. The El Paso County Health Department conducts routine health inspections to ensure that local restaurants are meeting health and safety standards.
