Court dates in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, are on hold until the end of next month as work progresses on repairs to electrical systems inside the courthouse after it was damaged by a lightning strike last week.
Repairs and Assessments
Claiborne Parish Police Jury officials said all power was restored to the building during the past week. They are in the process of having vendors assess the courtroom equipment — including the phone system, video and other technology — that was destroyed. The elevator for the two-story structure was also damaged and is expected to be functioning again by mid-July.
Because of the extent of the work that needs to be done, all court dates have been postponed until the week of July 20-24. The Police Jury is working with its insurance company on covering costs of the repairs.
