Funeral arrangements have been announced for Cincinnati firefighter Ryan Zwick, who died after a battle with occupational cancer. Zwick, 43, was assigned to Truck 35 in Westwood, where he spent his entire career.
Community Honors Firefighter’s Service
According to the Cincinnati Fire Fighters Union Local 48, Zwick’s death is recognized as an Occupational Cancer Line of Duty Death, due to the dangers and exposures he confronted during emergency incidents throughout his career. A public visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Spring Grove Funeral Homes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains.
The union encourages members of the public to join the fire service community in honoring Zwick’s dedicated service and sacrifice. Memorial contributions in Zwick’s memory may be made to the Cincinnati Fire Fighter Charitable Fund. “Ryan dedicated his life to serving others and protecting the citizens of Cincinnati,” said Joe Elliott, President of Cincinnati Fire Fighters Union Local 48.
