Chinese router maker Zbtlink Electronics has suspended sales of routers found to contain a backdoor, following a report by cybersecurity firm VulnCheck. The backdoor, dubbed “Endlessdoors”, was discovered in at least 20 models of routers made by Shenzhen-based Zbtlink Electronics.
The company claims the tool was intended for after-sales technical support and was never used for unauthorized access. However, cybersecurity experts have raised concerns that the backdoor could be exploited by hackers to gain control of the router and potentially other devices on the same network.
The Canadian government has issued a security advisory related to the routers’ vulnerability, amid growing Western concerns about cybersecurity and risks posed by Chinese-made networking equipment.
