Cincinnati Reds right-hander Hunter Greene is likely to miss the rest of the season with an elbow issue. Manager Terry Francona confirmed that there’s ‘probably a slim chance’ Greene will return from the 15-day injured list, where he landed a day earlier with soreness in his right elbow.
Greene’s Season Debut and Injury
Greene did not make his season debut until July 4 after being on the injured list since the end of March following surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow. In his last outing on July 31, he allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings of an 8-7 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Greene is 2-2 with a 6.83 ERA, nine walks and 33 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings over five starts this season. For his career, Greene is 27-31 with a 3.82 ERA and 650 strikeouts in 523 1/3 innings over 96 starts since 2022.
