Cedar Park Faces Changes with New Park, Food Truck Law, and Justice Center

Residents of Cedar Park and Austin can now enjoy the newly opened Ridgeline Neighborhood Park, a 10-acre green space located near Lakeline Mall. The park, which preserves natural features such as forested areas and a wetland ecosystem, offers amenities including a looped trail, picnic areas, and native wildflowers. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for June 3, marking its official inauguration.

State Law Alters Food Truck Regulations

In a significant shift for local businesses, Cedar Park’s authority over food truck operations is being curtailed by a new state law. As of July 1, food truck operators, or mobile food establishments, will no longer require city or county permits. Instead, a single statewide permit will streamline the process. The Cedar Park Planning & Zoning Commission has voted to amend city ordinances to align with this law, removing certain local regulations and introducing new requirements for food truck locations.

Williamson County Approves Justice Center Land Purchase

Williamson County commissioners have approved the purchase of a 255-acre tract in southwest Georgetown for a proposed justice center. The land, located on SE Inner Loop near the county administration building, is intended to enhance government operations and accommodate the area’s growing population. The commissioners also authorized up to $150 million in tax anticipation notes to fund the $76 million land acquisition, with the vote passing unanimously in the absence of County Judge Steve Snell.
