The Casper Downtown Development Authority is planning to celebrate the United States of America’s 250th anniversary with a patriotic display of the recently installed decorative tree lighting along 2nd Street in early July.
Event Details
At a recent DDA meeting, the board discussed hosting the light display on July 2 following Art Walk. Executive Director Melissa Hugget said that while Casper residents will have been able to see the lights’ typical white glow, the event will serve as one of the first demonstrations of their full capabilities.
Hugget suggested having readings over downtown’s intercom system, with some possibilities including readings of the Pledge of Allegiance, the Declaration of Independence and selections of poetry. Board president Greg Dixson proposed incorporating music into the event, with the possibility of partnering with the Casper Municipal Band for a live performance.
