Cary Residents Voice Concerns Over Proposed Property Tax Increase

On Thursday, a group of concerned residents gathered outside Cary Town Hall to protest a proposed budget that includes a property tax increase. The proposed change would raise the property tax rate by $3.75, bringing it to $37.75. Many residents fear this increase could significantly impact their financial stability.

Community Concerns

Mary Insprucker, a Cary resident, expressed the difficult choices that families might face if the tax increase is implemented. ‘It’s tough,’ she said. ‘People are struggling to decide whether to pay for food or their taxes.’ Insprucker highlighted the particular challenge for seniors who have lived in their homes for many years, emphasizing that their homes represent a lifetime investment. ‘They’re in threat of losing it if they can’t pay their taxes,’ she added.

The town has scheduled another feedback session for the budget on June 11 at 6:30 p.m., providing residents with an additional opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns.
