The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Henry A. Coffeen School in Sheridan celebrated a significant milestone with the ribbon-cutting of a new storage shed on May 28, 2026. This development marks a notable improvement for the PTO, which had long struggled with limited storage space.
Community Collaboration
Jamie Brester, the outgoing PTO president, expressed relief and gratitude during the ceremony. After eight years of service, Brester leaves behind a legacy of perseverance and community spirit. The PTO had previously relied on a small closet with just three shelves, which was insufficient for storing items like carnival games, crafting supplies, and other essentials.
Recognizing this challenge, Doug Moore, a member of the Sheridan County School District 2 school board, took initiative by reaching out to Jason Bloedorns of Bloedorns-Sheridan, a local lumber store. Bloedorns generously donated the necessary materials, valued at $500, to construct the shed. The construction was expertly handled by Bruce Kjerstad, ensuring the shed’s durability and functionality.
Impact on PTO Operations
Brester highlighted the positive impact of the new shed, noting that it alleviates the stress of constantly managing limited space. “It’s overwhelming the amount of stress this takes off of us,” she remarked. With dedicated storage, the PTO can now maintain its supplies more efficiently, reducing the need for repeated purchases and allowing for better continuity in their activities.
This project underscores the importance of community collaboration and support for local schools. The new shed not only enhances the PTO’s operational capabilities but also serves as a testament to the power of community involvement in addressing local needs.
