Brazil’s “Brazilcore” Trend Boosts Tourism and Global Fashion Spotlight

Rio de Janeiro – Brazil is experiencing a cultural surge as the Brazilcore movement, inspired by the nation’s flag colors, spreads worldwide. Celebrities, influencers, and fast‑fashion giants are embracing the vivid green, yellow and blue aesthetic, turning the country into a global style hotspot.

From Local Streets to International Runways

Fashion experts note that Brazilcore began gaining traction in 2023, when high‑profile stars such as Bad Bunny, Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Bieber showcased the look. The trend has since expanded beyond clothing to include music, dance, cinema and sport, celebrating “brasilidade,” or Brazilianness.

Brands ranging from Zara and H&M to luxury houses like Chanel and Jil Sander have released collections featuring the national colors or Rio‑themed graphics. The style appears on everything from bikinis and crochet pieces to soccer shirts and accessories.

Tourism Soars on the Wave of Interest

Tourism officials report that more than 9 million visitors arrived in Brazil last year—a 37 % jump from 2024. Travelers flock to iconic neighborhoods such as the Rocinha favela, often hiring drones to capture themselves amid the bright Brazilcore outfits. “If you don’t do the video with the drone, it’s as if you didn’t come to the favela,” said Eduardo Maristany, a tourist from Barcelona.

Major concerts have also amplified the hype. Madonna, Lady Gaga and Shakira performed free shows on Copacabana Beach in 2024, 2025 and 2026, each drawing at least a million attendees, according to Rio City Hall.

Digital Momentum and Cultural Soft Power

Brazil’s massive online presence fuels the trend. With over 200 million people, the country ranks among the most connected globally. TikTok’s Latin America director, Eduardo Lorenzi, says Brazilian users “quickly turn content into memes and cultural references,” making the nation a prized audience for brands seeking engagement.

International fans such as Californian writer Courtney Henning Novak have built online communities around Brazilian literature and culture, noting the country’s “positive energy” and high comment volume.

Future Outlook

Experts caution that the Brazilcore craze may wane as political polarization returns with upcoming elections. Nonetheless, many believe Brazil’s cultural influence will endure, offering a valuable market for global businesses and a source of national pride.
