Residents of the Southeast Side of Bexar County were startled Sunday morning when deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a body found on the 8000 block of New Sulphur Springs Road. A passerby spotted the scene and alerted authorities, prompting a swift response.
Details of the discovery
Investigators confirmed the victim was a male found in only his undergarments, lying about one foot off the side of the private road. The body showed signs of decomposition and what deputies described as “evident trauma.” BCSO spokesperson Joshua Hamby said, “We don’t believe that he was killed here at the scene. We believe that the body was dumped over here at this location.” No weapons were recovered at or near the site.
Community reaction
Alondra Salas, a longtime resident of the area, said she learned of the discovery from a neighbor early Sunday, the same morning her family had planned to attend church. Instead of attending services, Salas spent the day pulling security‑camera footage for investigators. “They were here from like 9,” she told KSAT. “I wasn’t able to go because I was pulling up the camera footage for the policeman, which I’m still working on.”
Salas recalled that the night before the body was found, neighbors were hosting a small gathering. “We were just having a party here the night before. We’re over here dancing and laughing and everything,” she said. “To know that while we were doing that, someone was just down the street dumping a body in our neighbor’s property — kind of crazy.”
Her brother, who lives nearby, reported seeing a car speed in and out of the area a few days before the discovery. Other neighbors expressed shock and unease, noting the lack of information about what happened.
Law‑enforcement response
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released an official cause or manner of death, but a report is expected within the next few days. As of Monday, no arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released. Deputies emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
What’s next?
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. The department continues to review security‑camera footage and other evidence to determine who may be responsible for dumping the body.
KSAT will continue to follow this story as more details become available.
