Miriam Horn, biographer of renowned conservationist George Schaller, will give a free talk at the Murie Ranch in Grand Teton National Park on August 11 at 5:45 p.m.
Conservation Legacy
Schaller, celebrated worldwide for his groundbreaking wildlife research, had his conservation journey profoundly shaped in Jackson Hole. He was mentored by Olaus and Mardy Murie and joined them on the 1956 Sheenjek Expedition, which led to the protection of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Schaller is a champion for wildlife science and conservation, having worked with Jane Goodall on her early chimpanzee studies and conducted research on Wyoming’s white pelicans. His connection to the Murie Ranch has endured throughout his career.
Horn’s book, ‘Homesick for a World Unknown: The Life of George B. Schaller,’ is the first biography written about Schaller. Those interested in attending the talk can RSVP on the Teton Science Schools website.
