Big Horn High School Celebrates 2026 Graduation with Community Spirit

Big Horn High School in Wyoming celebrated the graduation of its 2026 class on May 30, marking a significant milestone for 42 young adults as they step into the next phase of their lives. The ceremony, held in the school’s gymnasium, was a vibrant event filled with music, speeches, and community spirit.

Principal Ryan Fuhrman opened the ceremony by welcoming attendees to what he described as ‘the biggest celebration of the school year.’ The event began with a stirring rendition of the national anthem performed by students Ayla Turley, Emmie Rambur, and Noah Maurhoff, setting a patriotic tone for the proceedings.

In a symbolic tradition, Camden Burrup passed the key to Bridger Doke, representing the transition of responsibilities to the junior class. This gesture highlighted the continuity of leadership and community within the school.

Inspirational Messages

Student speaker Maui Orum delivered a poignant message to his peers, emphasizing the importance of selflessness and love, quoting, ‘Success is no longer what we see for ourselves but what we are willing to give others and to love one another as I have loved you.’

Another student speaker, Walker Billings, shared personal insights gained over his eighteen years, offering three life lessons to his fellow graduates, encouraging them to carry these lessons forward as they embark on their new journeys.

Keynote Address

The keynote speaker, Mila Stender, a beloved teacher retiring this year, added a personal touch to the ceremony by high-fiving each graduate before her speech. She used the metaphor of a backpacking trek to describe life’s journey, encouraging students to prepare thoroughly for the challenges ahead.

The ceremony also featured a senior slideshow and advice from the kindergarten class, adding a touch of nostalgia and humor to the event. The class motto, ‘Fortune Favors the Bold,’ along with their chosen song, ‘Good Riddance’ by Green Day, and the class flower, the snapdragon, reflected the graduates’ readiness to face the future with courage and optimism.

With diplomas awarded and tassels turned, the graduates of Big Horn High School are now poised to begin their adult lives, equipped with the values and education fostered by their community.
