Jackie and Shadow, a pair of bald eagles, are now empty nesters as their eaglets, Luna and Sandy, have taken flight. The Big Bear Valley nest is empty, but the eaglets are still under the care of their parents.
Luna made a successful flight on Monday, June 29, at 9:24 a.m. local time, according to the Friends of Big Bear Valley and Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam’s Facebook page. Sandy, on the other hand, had an accidental fledge on Sunday, June 28, when she lost her footing and fell. She has since been spotted near her brother and is doing well.
Eaglets’ First Flights
The eaglets’ first flights are a significant milestone in their development. Jackie and Shadow will continue to care for them, providing food and protection as they learn to navigate their surroundings.
Fans of the eagles can watch the eaglets’ progress on the Friends of Big Bear Valley and Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam Facebook page or on the organization’s website and YouTube channel.
