The Las Cruces Sun-News is running a poll from July 1-12 for readers to vote on the best high school coach in the city from the 2025-26 preps season. There are 17 nominees from a wide range of sports, including football, basketball, volleyball, and more.

Some of the nominees include Mark Lopez, Las Cruces football coach, who guided the Bulldawgs to a 12-1 record and a 6A state championship game appearance. Vincent Carrillo, Centennial boys basketball coach, won both the District 3-5A regular season and tournament championships.
Other nominees include William Benjamin, Las Cruces boys basketball coach, Jake Redfearn, Mesilla Valley Christian boys basketball coach, and Matt Abney, Centennial girls basketball coach. Keith Leipold, Las Cruces volleyball coach, won another state championship and helped the Bulldawgs win three 5A titles in a row.
The poll will close at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, and the winner will be announced a short time after that. Readers can vote as many times as they want, and there are no restrictions.
